Motivic homotopy theory Semester WiSe 2022 / 23
Lecturer Marc Hoyois
Type of course (Veranstaltungsart) Vorlesung
German title Motivische Homotopietheorie
Contents Motivic homotopy theory was developed by F. Morel and V. Voevodsky in the late 90s in order to "do homotopy theory" with algebraic varieties. This course will introduce the basic definitions and present some of the foundational results (such as the purity and localization theorems) that one needs to get started. Time permitting, the stable theory will be introduced, with a view towards the formalism of six operations.
Recommended previous knowledge Basic knowledge of schemes will be assumed (but specific notions and constructions will be reviewed if necessary). For a complete understanding, familiarity with higher category theory is required. However, familiarity with classical category theory will suffice to follow along and understand the main ideas.
