Knot theory SemesterWiSe 2023 / 24 Lecturer Stefan Friedl Type of course (Veranstaltungsart) Vorlesung German title Knotentheorie Contents We will study the fundamental group of knot complements and we will introduce and study the Alexander polynomial of knots. We will discuss related topics as time permits. The course will be interactive and example driven. Active participation of the audience is strongly encouraged. The course will be somewhat more structured than the previous course on knot theory... Literature Rolfsen: Knots and links, Lickorish: Introduction to knot theory, some parts of the course will also be loosely based on my topology lecture notes Recommended previous knowledge basics of fundamental groups and homology groups.
