We follow Lectures 2 through 6.1 of Scholze-Weinstein's Berkeley Lectures on p-adic Geometry, using additional notes on adic spaces for background. The goal is to understand the construction of Spa(A, A+), rational subsets, rational localization, the sheaf property, stable uniformity, and the definition of perfectoid Tate rings. The final objective is to identify basic examples such as perfectoid ball, and to understand the structural theorem that rational opens in an affinoid perfectoid space are again affinoid perfectoid.
