Block seminar Recent Developments in the Positive Mass Theorem
Semester
WiSe 2026 / 27

Lecturer
Bernd Ammann, Bernhard Hanke

Type of course (Veranstaltungsart)
Seminar

German title
Blockseminar Neue Entwicklungen zum Satz der positiven Masse

Contents
The positive mass theorem attracts interest since many years, in particular due to its relations to general relativity and the Yamabe problem.
The main ideas for its proof are the hypersurface method by Schoen and Yau and the spinorial proof by Witten.
In the last months we have seen some preprints on the arxiv, which provide spectacular new ideas to the field, we will read an article by Brendle and Wang, and also a related one by Bi, Hao, He, Shi, and Zhu.
