Contents This course serves as a first introduction to non-archimedean analytic geometry. We present the approach by Berkovich developed in his book 'Spectral theory and analytic geometry over non-archimedean fields'. We will introduce the spectrum of a commutative Banach ring, investigate the structure of affinoid algebras and affinoid spaces, discuss reduction, boundary and interior of these spaces, and introduce general analytic spaces. The course 'Algebraic Geometry I' complements this course in a nice way. However this course can also be attended independently. It is intended to have a course 'Non-Archimedean Analytic Geometry II' in the coming summer term.

Course work (Studienleistungen)- Successful participation in the exercise classes: Active participation and the presentation of
solutions to exercises at the blackboard: Each participant has to present at least two solutions, at least one from the exercise sheets 1-6 and at least one from the exercise sheets 7-12. Furthermore written solutions to the exercises have to be submitted (at least 25% from sheet 1-6 and at least 25% from sheet 7-12).
