Contents
The Quillen plus construction is a homotopy-theoretic construction with fascinating properties. Plus constructions yield the class of acyclic maps, that is, maps which preserve homological information in a strong sense while they simplify the fundamental group appropriately.

This lecture course will examine the properties of acyclic maps and their applications or appearances in different settings. While the focus will be on acyclic maps (or plus constructions), these will function as the nexus for varied results and considerations from group theory, (higher) category theory, classical homotopy theory, manifold topology, algebraic K-theory, etc.
