German title
Klassische algebraische K-Theorie

Contents
The low dimensional algebraic K-groups are built from vector bundles (over a scheme) or projective
modules (over an affine scheme) and their automorphisms. Rather than trying to understand vector
bundles directly, one forms a ring consisting of vector bundles up to a suitable equivalence
relation. There are also higher K-groups, but in this course we will restrict attention to the first
three K-groups (which were defined much earlier than the others). The goal is to prove the Bass
Fundamental Theorem which establishes a relationship between these K-groups on polynomial and
Laurent polynomial extensions.
