Contents
Riemannian surfaces are one dimensional complex manifolds, and hence situated at the cross point of
many more advanced mathematical theories. For example, a compact Riemannian surface can be always
described by algebraic equations while non-compact ones are an entry point to modular forms. In
this lecture, we provide an introduction to the theory of Riemann surfaces building only on
prerequisites offered in the first four terms of a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.
