Contents
The aim of this course is to provide an introduction to the theory of Brauer groups, with a focus
on Azumaya algebras over commutative rings. After a brief discussion of the required general facts
about Morita theory, we will cover some of the classical results about the Brauer group of a
commutative ring due to Auslander and Goldman. Time permitting, we will also give a definition of
Grothendieck's Brauer group of a scheme and discuss its relation to \'etale cohomology.
